SuperValue Leeston in North Canterbury has been right behind Te Wiki o te Reo Māori 2015. Activities for the Leeston team included sending staff members to a local marae where they learned about harvesting and crafting flax in the Māori tradition, their skills were then put to creating an in store display.

Various other Māori artwork was also displayed in store (see pictures below) helping greatly to brighten up the supermarket which is currently undergoing a re-fit.

The store also encouraged local children to submit artwork for the SuperValue Māori Language Week colouring competition, some of which went well behind the posters initially provided by the store and was part of a feature in local newspaper the Selwyn times (see the article here).

Local high school children were also invited to the store to perform a haka (see photos below), this was also attended by members of the local community.

The store's efforts have received very positive feedback from customers, team members and members of the public.
