The Ronald McDonald Family Room Southland Hospital thanks SuperValue Plaza for all the good that has been done for their organisation.

Each month, every SuperValue supermarket will make a charitable donation to a deserving community group or individual as part of the SuperValue Community Cash charitable grant program. SuperValue Plaza has chosen to provide fabulous meals for families at the Ronald McDonald Family Room South Hospital who have to endure the stresses of having a child in hospital.

“It is with much appreciation that we say thank you for the support and even choosing from your menu can be a highlight when things aren’t going so well”
says, Helen Walker, Ronald McDonald Family Room Supervisor.

Every weekday, menus arrive at the Ronald McDonald Family Room, Southland Hospital from SuperValue Plaza for guests to select a nutritious and tasty meal for dinner. These are then collected from a SuperValue Plaza volunteer and delivered to the Family Room after being crafted by the deli staff.

There are always four or five choices on the menu and the families who enjoy the meals are truly grateful for being looked after so well.

SuperValue Plaza owner, Ron Bakker says “as a family business in Southland since 1969, we have always supported local charities, schools, sports clubs and the like, so coming on board and supporting the Ronald McDonald Family Room was an easy decision to make”.

“At a time when families are experiencing a lot of stress in their lives, we are happy to be able to provide them with a nutritious meal when they manage to get some time for themselves”.

“This is a wonderful facility for Invercargill and we are proud to be able to support them in this way”.
